A History of the English Bible from KJV to NIV Second Edition
When the first edition of this text appeared in 1981, D.A. Carson called it "considerably more detailed than its closest competitor." This second edition continues this tradition by offering a meticulous, informed analysis of the three most recent revisions of the English Bible.
Jack Lewis evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the New King James version (the first edition included comments only on the NKJV New Testament), the Revised English Bible, and the New Revised Standard Version. Like its predecessor, this volume begins by treating the story of the Bible prior to English versions and of the English translations prior to the King James Version.
